About Me

My goal is to demystify wine, strip away the snobbery, and make it enjoyable and accessible for everyone.

Life is too short to drink bad wine!

My love of wine

Wine has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My parents always enjoyed a glass or two, and I vividly recall sitting in the car with my siblings in Beaune while they stocked up on Burgundy on our way back from camping holidays.

My real journey with wine began at 18, during a trip through Chile. Visiting a vineyard and learning about the dedication behind each bottle sparked a deep fascination with how wine can be so expressive.

It wasn't until recently that this interest turned into a passion and career. After my mum passed away unexpectedly, I realised that life really is too short not to do what you love. I decided to rethink my career path and took my first steps into the world of wine and I’ve loved every moment since. I'm endlessly intrigued by how something as simple as grapes can yield such a diverse array of aromas and flavors.

What I love the most about wine is that it has a unique way of bringing people together. It's a part of life’s most significant moments, yet it also has the power to elevate the everyday into something special.

My experience

I have been leading wine tastings for small groups for the past three years and launched my wine consultancy service in 2024.

Alongside this, I work part-time at a vineyard near Shepton Mallet, where I conduct guided tours and tutored tastings.

I hold WSET Levels 2 and 3 in Wine and plan to pursue my Level 4 Diploma in Wine later this year.

My passion for wine has taken me to vineyards across the globe, including in France, Spain, Chile, South Africa, England and even Denmark.

Why Bacchus to Basics?

Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, shares his name with one of the most widely planted white grapes in the UK.

'To Basics' reflects my mission to make wine approachable and fun for everyone!

"I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending his wine tasting sessions to anyone, be they beginners or more advanced in the topic of wine.”
